Keeping Time On Our Side

Lose Time or Create Time

In Nine Years, I’ll Be Forty.

How old will you be in 10 years? Think about that for a second……….

In just 10 years, you will be an age that currently seems so far away. In reality, we will all be 10 years down the road before we know it. This is a thought that can cause our emotions to stir a bit, or maybe even cause a sense of restlessness. Why does this +10 age seem so far away, and why do we take time for granted? There are so many things we keep saying we’ll do that we continue to put off as if this task will get itself done. For a second imagine turning that +10 age without ever getting grips on what you keep telling yourself you’ll change or accomplish.

Getting caught up in our every day lives, taking time for granted, and even wasting time can be a rut we all seem to fall in at times. Some of us have to admit we quite often waste time doing things that does not benefit us or the people around us. Much of the time, the things that are wasting my time are the most pointless and fruitless things that I could possibly spend my time on. This seems to happen quite often in today’s world with all the entertainment, social media, and addictive traps that are always around.

Losing Our Sense of Urgency:

This always seems to happen when I lose that sense of urgency that keeps me motivated, purpose driven, and doing things that benefit me and those around. A sense of urgency in our lives can be one of the most powerful “emotions” we can posses. When we posses a “sense of urgency” it always feels like we completely understand the purpose of our lives, days, and moments. This clarity of purpose keeps us motivated, inspired, and appreciating every single moment of our day. A day or life without purpose is a depressing one.

How do we posses a sense of urgency?

The easiest way to posses a sense of urgency is to understand time and how much of it we do not have left. Going back to our original question of “how old will you be in 10 years'“ is a fantastic way to snap yourself out of that rut, and get yourself back to living with a purpose! Snapping yourself out of this rut takes awareness and tons of practice, but the results will be completely different in 10 years.

Continue to use this practice to keep you motivated and hungry for life. One of God’s gifts to us was life. I would assume he would be pleased if we do not take our life for granted and make sure to live out his will. Waiting to do this may not be pleasing to our Lord. A sense of urgency would not hinder this, but only help us to accomplish whatever it is God wants us to accomplish.
